Education: My Dad died of a brain tumor in 1987 that was inflicted on him by U.S. Nuclear Testing. Up until that time I worked with him as a Real Estate Appraiser. When he passed away I began to realize just how short life could be and how important it is to serve my fellow human beings. So I closed the Real Estate office and attended Weber State College where I received a BSW in Social Work and a minor in Art/Photography. I worked my way through college as a photographer for Weber State and also as a Drug & Alcohol Peer counselor in the ‘Drug and Alcohol Help Net’ program at Weber State. I completed my Social Work Practicum at the Davis School District’s office of Pupil Personnel, where I worked for a year tracking troubled youth and helping to keep them in school. After that I was asked by the School District to teach Troubled Youth at the Rebound Program at Davis Mental Health. I obtained my Social Service Worker license while there, and continued working for another year until the District closed the school. When the school closed down I was offered and accepted employment by Davis County Mental Health as a Human Service Worker at the Drug Treatment program for troubled youth. I worked at Davis Mental Health for several years helping youth to get off drugs and to change their behaviors. After that I accepted a position as a Treatment Worker and Case Manager for DCFS, the Division of Child and Family Services. I then took a job as an EdNet Facilitator with the Davis School District at Davis High. EdNet is a very economical and efficient way to reach Thousands of students a year through interactive distance education. I continued to work at Davis High School until 2002 when the State Legislature slashed funding to Public Education and the District’s EdNet Program was closed. News Link
